Weather

Paris has almost a maritime climate. Average temperature in June is 16°C (62°F). You can expect some rain and a fold-up umbrella or likewise a light raincoat prepares you for the unpredictable side of the weather in the hope that it will not be needed. For weather forecast have a look here.

Electricity

Electricity in France is 230 V, alternating at 50 Hz. Hotels may have a 110 or 120 V outlet for shavers, but otherwise you will need a voltage converter.

Currency

The currency in France is the Euro (€, EUR), which is used in almost all countries within the European Union. No other currencies are commonly accepted, so you will have to change your dollars, pounds, yens, etc. to euros. There is a multitude of banks in Paris, both French and foreign but, even though you may find some banks who will accept your currency in exchange for euros, you are more likely to come across exchange desk ("bureaux de change" in french), which specialize in this type of transaction. For current exchange rates have a look here. To pay your bills credit cards are widely accepted.

Getting around

Paris is comprised of some 20 arrondissements (or districts) that spiral clockwise out from the city's center and are important locators. Their numbers are always included in the addresses given on business cards, flyers and the Internet. For more informations visit the official website for tourism in Paris.
