PIPS and Mind Loops image contest
Terms and conditions of the image contest:
- For each category of the image/photography contest, you may submit up to 5 images. However, please submit only pictures which you really feel are your best works.
- Everyone is invited to submit images or photographs in the category “Shapes in Living Systems” (category1)
- PhD students, or young researchers who have finished their PhD not more than 5 years ago, are invited to submit images or photographs in the category “Ups and Downs in the Life of a PhD Student” (category2)
- You can submit images in category 1 as well as in category 2.
- Your images may be in portrait or landscape format.
- Only electronic image files are accepted. The following formats may be submitted: JPEG, PNG and TIFF. Please submit the largest original file available, without resizing the image. The side length of the image has to be between 1000 and 4000 pixels. However, due to problems with sending and handling large files, please limit your image size to less than 12 MB. Submitted images should be either in RGB colour mode or in grayscale colour mode.
- Each image should be accompanied by the title and a suggestion for a legend that explains the image content (a brief description of up to 40 words)
- Each submitted image should be named according to this rule: catX-yourname-imageY.filetype (for example: cat1-johnsmith-image1.jpg, cat2-johnsmith-image2.tiff,...)
- You can submit your images from May 15th until noon on June 10th 2011.
- The best works will be exhibited at Espace Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, Paris. For the category “Shapes in Living Systems”, exhibition will be open for public during the general public afternoon on June 12th, while for the category “Ups and Downs in the Life of the PhD Student” exhibition will run from June 13th to 15th during the Paris Interdisciplinary PhD Symposium.
- A “general public” prize and a “scientific” prize will be given to the best image in the category “Shapes in Living Systems”. The winners will be announced on June 12th.
- A “student” prize and a “scientific” prize will be given to the best image in the category “Ups and Downs in the Life of the PhD Student”. The winners will be announced on June 15th.
- Results of the contest will be published on PhD symposium web page http://symposium.fdv-paris.org/2011/ and will be sent by e-mail to all participants of the contest
- Your photographs and images will be published under a creative commons licence - CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike) - This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms.
How to participate in this image contest:
