Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is eligible to participate?
A:
All master students, PhD students, post-doctorants and young researchers are invited to apply to the symposium. Since the symposium intends to bring together people from diverse backgrounds, applicants who show interdisciplinary interests and experience will be given special attention.
The organising committee will finally select applications in order to have a great diversity in terms of scientific interests and nationalities.
Q: How does the registration process work?
A:
1. To apply to the symposium, please fill in the registration form before september 20th.
2a. If your application is selected, you will receive an email indicating how to proceed with the payment of the fees (80€), and thereby to validate your application.
2b. In case your application is not selected, you will also receive and email and be informed about other ways for following the event (for instance via the blog).
Q: I don't want you to keep data about me. What can I do?
A:
Please note that any collected data will be used only for internal use and communication related to Paris Interdisclinary PhD Symposium events. Your coordinates will not be communicated to any third parties, and you can request to be removed from our database at any time accordingly to the "dispense n°7" of french CNIL's "Délibération n°2006-138 du 09/05/2006".
Q: What is the official language?
A:
You guess what… english! ;)
Q: Is there an abstract book?
A:
Yes, a paper booklet will be available at the conference with the abstracts and more… The electronic version will be available on the website.
Q: What is the blog for and how to participate?
A:
Because scientific ideas about "Numbers in Life Sciences" can be raised before, during and after the symposium, in Paris and elsewhere, and do not originate only from people who will be able to attend, we propose to open a platform where experts and non-experts will be invited to give their opinion, to ask questions and to participate in the debate.
Events such as journal clubs or brainstorming sessions will also be organised before the symposium, and information about these events will also be available on the blog.
Q: What kind of poster should I prepare?
A:
To allow discussion to occur between researchers from different fields, we propose you to design simple posters leading to open discussions with experts and non-experts. To this aim, we ask you to bring a A2 poster (40 x 60cm), consisting of your personal photo, one scientific picture (photo, graph…) you are really eager to talk about, 3 keywords/equations…
Q: What should I do if I have forgotten my password?
A:
Please, ask for a new one here.
Q: What expenses does the registration fee cover?
A:
Registration fee covers your attendance to the symposium, lunches and coffee breaks.
Q: Will any of my transport or accommodation expenses be reimbursed?
A:
So far, we will not be able to reimburse accommodation and transport expenses. We are currently looking for sponsors. If possible, we will participate to these expenses, to an extent that will depend on your residence country.
Q: What are the terms and conditions of your participation to the conference?
A:
Feel free to read them on this page.
